I had actually telephoned AGL earlier that day to resolve an account issue. This caller sounded foreign and there were unexpected noises in the background for a call center and they didn't identify themselves. AGL will generally send a SMS messages and offer to transfer funds if you have paid into the wrong AGL account on paying a bill.
I said I called AGL earlier that day and he instantly hung up, similar to the finance scammers.

The calls continue even after twenty years of timely or slightly delayed payments. This implies that AGL contracts out its debt collection, which exposes them to contractor harassment if an account is past due. Since the calls are coming from their contractors, AGL denies any involvement.
